Ingredients:
500 grams of fresh prawns (cleaned and deveined)
2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or mustard oil)
1 medium onion (finely chopped)
2 medium tomatoes (chopped or pureed)
4-5 garlic cloves (crushed)
1-inch ginger (grated)
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
Salt (to taste)
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
Preparation:
Marinate the Prawns: Take the prawns, add a pinch of turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt, and let them marinate for 10-15 minutes. This will add a nice flavor.
Preparation of Masala:
Heat oil in a pan over medium flame.
Add crushed garlic and grated ginger and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
Add chopped onions and fry until they turn golden brown.
Add the tomatoes, stir well, and cook till the oil begins to separate from masala.
Cook Prawns:
Add the marinated prawns to the masala.
Sprinkle turmeric, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt.
Mix and cook for 5-7 minutes on medium flame. Prawns cook very quickly, so be careful not to overcook it.
Finishing Touch:
Sprinkle garam masala and give it a stir once more.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves for added flavour and a pop of colour.
Serve Suggestion
Serve with steamed rice, chapati, or paratha. For a special meal, it can be served with plain pulao too.

Prawns to be freshly used to obtain good taste.
According to personal preference, the spice could be increased.
In order to increase the taste, one could use one tablespoon of fresh cream or coconut milk.
